"I remember taking my mom to the Eye Center of PA a few years before she passed away. Little did I realize I would be going there myself years later!When my eye doctor diagnosed me with cataracts in both eyes, I did not hesitate to tell him I wanted to go to the Eye Center of Central PA. I remembered how wonderful everyone was to my mom and I can honestly say I was not disappointed with my care over the past 2 months!I highly recommend Dr. Spencer Onishi, along with Donnel Apuzzio, MSHS, PA-C and the staff at the Eye Center of Central PA! From my initial consultation to my 2 cataract surgeries, along with follow-up appointments, their level of care and professionalism was outstanding.Dr. Onishi was so kind and patient as well as highly skilled. He took time to explain every step of the procedure and answered all my questions. He even came to see me before both surgeries! I was so grateful for all his support and advice to help me recover from my surgeries. My vision is so much clearer and I can see without my glasses! I can honestly say, I was at ease throughout the entire procedure.Donnel Apuzzio, MSHS, PA-C was also so kind and caring as she examined me during my follow-up appointments the day after my surgeries. "Came in twice the past week due to a recent eye issue. I go here for my regular eye checkups but had a different doctor.This time I had Dr. Wayne Jacobs, I don’t really leave reviews regarding healthcare personnel but I’ll make an exception for this one. Dr. Wayne was absolutely amazing, he came in the exam room, knew my case; didn’t have to read on the computer to cram who his patient is and what’s wrong with her no, he did his homework, don’t see that often anymore.He explained everything calmly and clearly , answered my questions with honesty and laid out options and went through each steps to help me with my current eye issue. The only time he would look or get on the computer was when he needed to add new information and for my prescription but, the rest of the time he was explaining everything to me he had the eye contact; not on the computer — that is rare these days. Even walked me out close to the checkout desk, not rushing to get done , and again that is rare these days. I work in Healthcare so I have seen different healthcare professionals and different bedside manners, his is exceptional, what we need more these days. Thank you."
"The Eye Center, located in Bellefonte, PA is a great place for eye care. From the front desk receptionist to the eye technician to the fabulous Dr. Bonnell, everyone takes time to welcome patients and truly show care and interest in them. Dr. Bonnell is a gifted individual. She remembers conversations from previous visits, clearly explains all procedures and issues, and provides excellent suggestions for continued health of the eyes. This Eye Center is the best, and I highly recommend it to anyone in the area."

"At 70 getting new eyes through light adjustable lenses is nothing short of miraculous!! The process delivered from Dr. Hardsel and Dr. Bonner was awesome to say the least. I am free from corrective Len's of any power and have better that perfect vision. The process is tedious and takes time ! BUT sooooo worth the patience that is required to complete the treatment!! I HIGHLY!! recommend this to anyone ready for cataract surgery ."
"Excellent service and knowledgeable staff. They took pride in keeping my personal information personal. Waited in waiting room for 10 min past my appointment time and in actual exam room 8 min to see the Dr might seem like a long time but as they are always busy I didn’t think it was too terrible. My Dr knows how hard it is for my eyes to adjust after being dilated so has agreed to only do that every other year as long as everything is ok with me and the rest of my eye exam. Hard to find a Dr willing to do that these days. Would highly recommend to others as a good practice to go to. I am not sure what they charge as I have eye insurance I post for through my company."

"I have posterior vitreous detachments And I have severe near sided vision, and my prescription is very strong. Dr. Bowen and his nurse Gianna go above and beyond to make sure all my questions are answered, They are very patient and detail oriented and they explain things to you in a way that you'd understand everything that is going on with your eyes. Dr. Bowen is very friendly, caring and kind. I trust him 100% with my care of my eyes. I'm even willing to drive an hour because I know I'm getting the best patient care. "Great experience. Inititial appointment and the first eye surgery 01.12.26, was completed within weeks of each other. All of the involved personnel at the Danville,Pa, Allenwood, Pa and Williamsport, Pa locations were professional but also pleasurable to work with.Dr. ONISHI didn't rush through the examinations, and by the outcome of the first eye surgery, proved to be extremely competent. All follow up appointments were very thorough.ADDENDUM:Second surgery on 01.29.26 was completed as efficiently as the first surgery. It's like a breath of fresh air with having all medical personnel being extremely pleasant and having genuine concern for the patient.On the follow visit, Dr. ONISHI once again covered all facets of procedure.I have recommended Dr. ONISHI and the EYE CENTER to my family and friends."

The previous lenses needed changed and when I was told of the price for the new lenses, $525.00, I articulated to the individual if I was purchasing the Washington Monument!"
"my son was referred here from the emergency room. he came home cross-eyed randomly out of the blue, and after being seen in the ER we were referred there at 8 am the following morning. i arrived a few minutes late because we had a late night at the ER and found out we didn’t technically have an appointment. not to worry! this entire staff was so amazing, helpful, and accommodating. i cannot speak highly enough of dana, the front desk receptionist, and dr. rachel fritz, who somehow realigned her schedule to see my son that morning. turns out, he is far-sighted and his eye muscles were causing his eyes to cross as they worked to hard to have him focus up-close. the nurse who worked with my son before dr. fritz was also amazing- 10/10. he is only 4, so he’d never had an eye exam, and he was a little nervous. dr. fritz and her nurse (i wish i could remember her name!) entertained him and encouraged him during his exam. the nurse also reassured me that i was doing a great job as a mom by bringing him in and getting him evaluated. dr. fritz so nicely explained everything to me on a sleep-deprived brain and allowed me to record what she was saying so i could share with my husband. so thank you, dana (who took excellent care of a frazzled mom), the most amazing and straightforward and caring nurse, and dr. fritz. i am so so relieved and grateful to you all for helping us out despite not being scheduled! thank you, thank you. 5 star service!"

"The best experience that I have had with eyecare. I asked my eye doctor to refer me to The Eye Center so I could have Dr. Hartzell to do my cataract surgery. Dr. Hartzell did my Mom's cataract surgery years and years ago, so I knew she had great results and that he is the best around. I met with Dr. Hartzell and he said that he could do both eyes, as one of mine was worse than the other. Everyone at the Eye Center answered all of my questions and encouraged me to call whenever I had any. I paid to upgrade my lenses to light adjustable lenses so I would not have to wear glasses, as my vision was bad and wore glasses for 52 years. Dr. Hartzell operated on one eye at a time and I was given UV glasses to wear when in sunlight and indoors. I followed all of the instructions the Eye Center gave me. I had questions after my 1st eye fogged from inflammation and was assured that it was normal and would be clear up by the next day, which it did. After both eyes were done it was time to see Dr. Jarrett to adjust my light adjustable lenses to my preferred vision. Dr. Jarrett set my vision with one eye great for distance and the other eye great to see to read up close. Since both eyes were set for my vision, I have not had to use readers, which I needed before with contacts. I go back to see Dr. Hartzell in a year. I am so happy with my experience with everyone at the Eye Center. I highly recommend Dr. Hartzell, Dr. Jarrett and the Eye Center for cataract surgery! Randy Gill"

"Having cataracts in both of my eyes had affected my vision over time so much that it was hard to do anything in my daily life. It was also getting very bad driving at night from all the bright lights affecting my vision even more going to and from work. A friend had recommended this eye center so we called and made an appointment and met with Dr. Hartzell. He explained what was going on with my eyes and we began preparations for my surgery. The entire staff was very helpful through the whole process and made things go smoothly. Both surgeries went very well and my sight had improved so much just after 24 hours and kept getting better! Thank you to the great staff for being so helpful and special thanks to Dr. Hartzell for removing my clouded vision and bringing back the wonderful colors and sight back into my life! "Bonney in the optical shop was very helpful in assisting me to find the right pair of glasses. I’m very hard to fit but Bonney kept trying until we found the perfect frames. I would have given a 5-star rating but she made an error figuring the cost of my glasses. She called me to let me know but the glasses ended up being $100 more than she originally told me. Other than that, my experience has been great so far."

At that time, I had uncorrected vision of 20/400 (that's legally blind) with cataracts that further diminished my vision. Due to three prior retina tears, Dr. Hartzell outlined what he thought would be the safest plan for me. I met with several technicians after that who went over in detail exactly every step in a three month program - and I received a book with information and phone numbers and a precise schedule. Through the measurements, left and right eye surgeries and weekly follow up appointments, I have been met with helpful and courteous people who exhibited the highest level of caring and professionalism. As I type this review, I don't know where my glasses are - my last test had my uncorrected vision at 20/15. I can look at a flower and see individual petals and vivid colors. I can look at my dog and see details in his face I've never seen before. How important is your vision? At the Eye Center, they are giving people sight - it's not like rating a coffee shop. "When I came to the Eye Center of Central PA in 2016, it was a scary situation. I am a graphic artist by trade, so I need my eyes to earn a living. Both of my eyes were failing due to very aggressive cataracts... My vision turned so poor, so quickly that I could no longer drive, read a magazine or use a computer! Even something as simple as watching TV had become nearly impossible. My entire world was a blur, like looking through Saran Wrap.
